Chennai Port Gets ₹158.17 Crore Infrastructure Boost

The projects include the construction of four Export-Import (EXIM) godowns, development of a paved storage yard, establishment of a Seafarers Club, and improvements to the cruise terminal.     The new infrastructure is expected to enhance cargo storage and handling facilities, improve welfare amenities for seafarers, and provide a better experience for cruise passengers. The investments will also support the port’s operational efficiency and strengthen its ability to meet the evolving requirements of trade and maritime services.     The initiatives align with the Government of India’s vision of developing modern, efficient and competitive ports that facilitate trade, improve maritime services and generate value across the logistics and maritime value chain.

With these developments, Chennai Port is reinforcing its position as a strategic economic asset for Tamil Nadu, supporting industrial growth, trade facilitation and regional economic development while contributing to India’s broader maritime ambitions.
