The Lloyd's Register-classed, Portuguese-flagged tanker is the fourth
of ten multi-fuel newbuilds for fuel supplier Peninsula. Hercules Angelica is the fourth vessel
in an order of ten placed by Gibraltar-based fuel supplier Peninsula, which
will operate the ship under time charter.
The vessel was built to Lloyd’s Register class and Portuguese flag requirements. The newbuild has an LOA of 104 metres, a
beam of 19 metres, and a gross tonnage of 4,999. Peninsula has described the ship and her
sisters as IMO II chemical tankers able to supply conventional fuels, up to 100
per cent biofuels, and all forms of methanol. The tanker uses diesel-electric propulsion
and is prepared for battery use. Peninsula estimated that this setup, along
with the hull and propeller design, would reduce emissions by approximately 20
per cent compared to older conventional tankers. Hercules Harriet, the first ship in the series, was delivered in
October 2025 and sailed from Southeast Asia carrying a B100 biofuel cargo. She
now provides bunkering services in Europe.
At the time of Hercules
Harriet’s delivery, HTM expected the remaining vessels to follow every two
months into 2027.
