The two companies signed a letter of intent in
December 2025 for the construction of four vessels, with options for two
additional ships. According to the joint statement,
negotiations and detailed design work have reached an advanced stage, with the
final agreement involving a complex set of contracts that typically requires at
least six months to complete.
The planned vessels will form a new cruise ship
class named New Frontier. Each ship will have a gross tonnage of approximately
180,000 GT, accommodate up to 5,400 passengers, and be delivered annually from
2030 onwards. If finalized, the order will secure MEYER WERFT's production
capacity well into the next decade. Both companies said they remain confident
that the negotiations will conclude successfully and will announce the final
agreement once the contracts have been signed.
