The company financed
the purchase of the Volvo FH Electric, which will be utilized for
container-shunting activities at QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam (QTKR). This new
electric truck will serve clients such as Ocean Network Express (Europe) Ltd.
(ONE). In a symbolic gesture of their strong partnership, DM Transport has
adorned the vehicle with ONE's recognizable branding.
This initiative builds upon the existing HVO100
scheme, where DM Transport, ONE, and QTKR have collaborated for over a year to
lower emissions from local port-shunting. The adoption of the electric truck
represents a significant advancement in DM Transport's strategy for
reduced-emission transportation, with plans to integrate HVO100 biofuel and
battery-electric vehicles.
DM Transport also aims to expand its electric
truck fleet in the future. Max Van Stek, Managing Director of DM Transport,
stated, "Investing in our first Volvo FH Electric is an important
milestone for DM Transport." He further commented, "For more than a
year, we have worked with ONE and QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam through the
HVO100 scheme. Introducing an electric truck builds on that progress and gives
us valuable experience of operating battery-electric heavy transport in a busy
port environment." The company will leverage this truck to acquire
practical insights into operating electric heavy transport within demanding
daily port operations.
