JNPA expands Green Mobility infrastructure with EV charging and battery swapping stations

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has taken another significant step towards advancing clean and sustainable mobility within its port ecosystem by signing an agreement with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), New Delhi, for the development of Public EV Charging and Battery Swapping Stations at five parking locations within JNPA.     The agreement was signed by Shri Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson, JNPA, along with Shri Ravish Kumar Singh, Dy. Chairperson, JNPA, and Shri Rajneesh Rana, Head – Convergence, CESL, in the presence of senior officials and Heads of Departments from JNPA and CESL.     The planned facilities will support a wide range of electric vehicles operating within and around the port, including tractor-trailers, buses, cars, three-wheelers and two-wheelers. The initiative is expected to strengthen the availability of charging and battery-swapping infrastructure and encourage greater adoption of electric mobility across the port’s operational ecosystem.     The partnership with CESL aligns with JNPA’s broader focus on promoting green port operations, energy efficiency and sustainable transportation. By facilitating access to EV charging infrastructure, the port aims to support the gradual transition towards cleaner modes of transportation while contributing to reduced emissions from road-based port connectivity.   CESL, a green-energy focused Central Government PSU working under the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, is engaged in accelerating the adoption of clean energy and sustainable mobility solutions across the country.      The development of EV charging and battery-swapping stations is part of JNPA’s continued efforts to integrate sustainable technologies into port infrastructure and operations. The initiative will provide greater support for electric vehicles serving the port while contributing to the creation of a cleaner and more future-ready maritime logistics ecosystem.   With this partnership, JNPA is further strengthening its commitment to green growth and sustainable port development, reinforcing its vision of building an efficient, environmentally responsible and future-ready gateway for India’s trade.
