Chief Strategy Officer Suraj Mehta
said the additional Rs 300–500 crore will be deployed during the remaining part
of the financial year for capacity expansion and operational expenses. The
company expects the investment to support revenue growth and improve financial
performance from the December quarter.
Since the ownership change, HNGIL has added 1,100–1,200 tonnes per day
of manufacturing capacity. Last week, it fired the second furnace at its
Bahadurgarh plant in Haryana, doubling the unit’s capacity from 300 tonnes per
day to 600 tonnes per day. With this
expansion, HNGIL’s operational capacity has risen to about 2,500–2,600 tonnes
per day, against an installed capacity of 4,300 tonnes per day. The company is
working to bring more of its installed capacity back into operation as demand
and order flows improve. HNGIL is
also strengthening its export focus, particularly towards Europe. Its Naidupeta
facility in Andhra Pradesh was recommissioned in August with a capacity of 650
tonnes per day, making it Asia’s largest single-furnace container glass plant
and the company’s export hub.
The company’s Puducherry unit was
recommissioned in February with about 330 tonnes per day of capacity, while its
Rishra plant near Kolkata has an installed capacity of around 950 tonnes per
day. HNGIL said the pending orders received during the insolvency resolution
process are being supplied during the current financial year.
