The vessels comprise seven LNG carriers —
Al Ghuwair, Al Jazi, Al Mirzam, Maqdeem, Al Nasraniya, Energy Vigour, and
Energy Voyager — alongside two LPG/ammonia carriers, Energy South and Energy
East. Five of the seven LNG carriers
form part of Nakilat's broader program to build 25 conventional-size LNG
carriers at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hanwha Ocean. These vessels will be
fully owned and operated by Nakilat and chartered to QatarEnergy affiliates
under long-term agreements. The remaining two LNG carriers and two LPG/ammonia
carriers belong to a separate six-vessel newbuild program at HD Hyundai
Samho. Eng. Abdullah Al Sulaiti,
Chief Executive Officer of Nakilat, said the naming ceremony reflected tangible
progress in the company's long-term investment plans and its partnership with
QatarEnergy, supporting the requirements of the North Field expansion projects.
He said the fleet diversification into LPG/ammonia carriers would strengthen
Nakilat's ability to meet evolving customer needs while reinforcing Qatar's
position as a leading LNG producer and exporter.
Al Sulaiti thanked the shipyards and
project teams for their commitment to safety, quality, and operational
excellence throughout the newbuild programs. The LNG carriers are designed for
efficient, reliable transport of LNG from Qatar to global markets, while the
two LPG/ammonia carriers will broaden Nakilat's service offering.
