The weekly service, introduced
in June 2026, links major Southeast Asian transshipment and gateway ports with
primary Indian Subcontinent destinations, providing shippers with more
frequency and capacity on the trade lane. OOCL positions the loop to improve
schedule reliability and reduce transit times for both import and export flows
between the regions. SIS2’s deployment features
modern, high-capacity vessels and is integrated with OOCL’s existing regional
network to offer seamless feeder and inland connections. The carrier says the
service will complement its current offerings on the lane, allowing customers
greater routing flexibility and improved equipment availability. OOCL
highlighted that the new loop responds to growing cargo demand between
Southeast Asia and South Asia, driven by expanding intra-Asian trade,
manufacturing shifts, and rising e-commerce volumes. The carrier expects the
service to support faster inventory turns and more predictable supply chains
for exporters, importers, and logistics providers operating between the two
regions. The schedule, port rotation
and vessel particulars are listed on OOCL’s website and can be accessed by
customers and agents for planning and bookings. OOCL said it will continue to
monitor market dynamics and adjust capacity to match trade patterns while
maintaining operational reliability.
