The vessel is a
feeder ship model independently designed and optimised by Huangpu Wenchong.
With a total length of 172 meters, a breadth of 27.5 meters and a deadweight of
approximately 24,000 dwt, the yard said the ship has container loading
efficiency, low energy consumption and strong route adaptability to enable
flexible operational scheduling. Fully
compliant with the International
Maritime Organization’s EEDI Phase 3
energy efficiency standards, the vessel is equipped with shore power systems,
sulphur scrubbing devices and other advanced environmental protection
facilities. Co-operation between
Huangpu Wenchong and RCL initially kicked off in 2024, with an order for four 4,300 teu container ships and there are currently orders for eight vessels, which are
progressing steadily, the yard said.
Since the start of 2026, the Honghu series has secured a total of 45
orders for feeder and medium-sized container ships, demonstrating strong market
appeal and industrial competitiveness.
