CWC has placed an order with TuTr Hyperloop, a start-up associated with IIT Madras, for the pilot project. The proposed trial is being evaluated for a route connecting a Mumbai port with a CWC facility in the city, according to CWC Managing Director Santosh Sinha. Sinha said the order was placed in March or April 2026, and TuTr Hyperloop has indicated a tentative development and implementation timeline of around one year.   The pilot project is estimated to cost approximately ₹23 crore and will be funded entirely by CWC from its own resources.    The initiative is aimed at assessing the feasibility of hyperloop technology for moving containers at high throughput between ports and logistics facilities. If successful, the trial could provide insights into the potential application of next-generation transport systems in India’s port-led logistics and multimodal freight network.    The project will also allow CWC to evaluate the technology in a real-world freight environment, including its operational suitability for containerised cargo movement between port infrastructure and inland warehousing facilities.
