The visit highlighted the strategic importance of India to DP World’s
global growth plans and its continued focus on developing world-class trade and
logistics infrastructure. As India strengthens its position as a global
manufacturing, consumption and export hub, DP World is expanding its
capabilities to enhance supply chain resilience, improve connectivity and
support the country’s evolving trade requirements. During the visit, Kazim and Narayan met
Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), and Ravish
Kumar, IRTS, Deputy Chairman, reaffirming a partnership that spans nearly three
decades. The relationship dates back to the concession agreement for the Nhava
Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT), which contributed to the
development of India’s public-private partnership model in port
infrastructure. Discussions focused
on strengthening the longstanding partnership and exploring future
opportunities, including the development of Vadhavan Port and further
investment in the JNPA Special Economic Zone. As part of the visit, DP World inaugurated
Phase 2 of the Nhava Sheva Business Park (NSBP). The first phase of the
business park spans 44 acres and offers one million square feet of warehousing
space. The newly inaugurated second phase covers an additional 42 acres and
will add another one million square feet of warehousing capacity, representing
an investment of approximately ₹500 crore ($52 million). The expansion will strengthen DP World’s
ability to serve the increasingly sophisticated logistics requirements of
customers across industries and is part of its broader vision to create an
integrated logistics ecosystem at Nhava Sheva. The ecosystem brings together port operations,
container freight stations, rail connectivity, warehousing and Free Trade
Warehousing Zone capabilities, enabling customers to move cargo more
efficiently, optimise logistics costs and access integrated end-to-end supply
chain solutions. H.E. Essa Kazim,
Executive Chairman, DP World, said India is a strategic partner in the
company’s global growth journey and highlighted the significant opportunities
to support the country’s ambition of becoming a leading global trading
nation.
The company said the investment reflects its customer-led approach to
growth, providing the capacity, flexibility and connectivity required to
support both domestic and international trade while contributing to the overall
competitiveness of India’s logistics sector.
